Healthcare-associated Infection (HAI)

['Nosocomial Infection' redirects to here]

Healthcare-associated Infections (HAIs), also known as nosocomial infections, are any infections that patients acquire at a hospital while receiving treatment for another condition. Simply put, when a patient gets sick while receiving treatment at a healthcare facility at no fault of his own, this can be associated as HAI. Every healthcare facility measures their HAI rate which is counted by the number of infections that appear 48 hours or more after patients are admitted into a hospital.
